Zondag 20 juli 2008:

De dag begon met regen, maar later brak de zon door de wolken. Het keramiekevenement Delft Ceramica 2008 is door zowel bezoekers als deelnemers bijzonder gewaardeerd, zo kon uit gesprekken tussen de kunstenaars en ambachtslieden en het publiek worden opgemaakt. Er moesten vele vragen worden beantwoord, over technieken, stijlen, achtergronden en meer.

Sunday July 20th 2008:

The day started with rain, but later the sun broke through the clouds. The ceramics event Delft Ceramica was appreciated by both participants and visitors, as can be concluded from the many conversations between the artists and crafts(wo)men and the public. Many questions had to be answered, about techniques, styles, backgrounds and more.

Bijna aan het eind van het evenement werd de Delft Ceramica Award uitgereikt aan Gideon Necker, die deze prijs samen met zijn vrouw Tanja heeft gewonnen.

Unieke winnaars Delft Ceramica Award 2008

Voor de Delft Ceramica Award 2008 - een keramiekprijs van 2008 euro-, welke dit jaar voor het eerst is ingesteld, hanteerde de jury bestaande uit Sjannie Dorff-Bouwman, keramiste, Albert van der Pluym, kunstkenner, en Herman Weijers, voorzitter van de Stichting Vermeercentrum Delft een drietal criteria; handvorm draaien, creativiteit en originaliteit.

De jury koos als winnaars het kunstenaarspaar: Tanja en Gideon Necker uit Höhr-Grenzhausen (Duitsland). Vooral de creativiteit en de originaliteit scoorden hoog.
Tanja en Gideon Necker maken vaak samen kunstwerken, waarbij ieder een deel van het werk op zich neemt, maar ook maken zij natuurlijk apart kunstwerken van een uitzonderlijke klasse.

Juryvoorzitter Herman Weijers reikte op zondagmiddag 20 juli 2008 de Delft Ceramica Award 2008 aan het kunstenaarspaar uit.
En zo gaat de eerste Delft Ceramica Award naar Duitsland.

Near the end of the event the Delft Ceramica Award was presented to Gideon Necker, who shares this price with wife and fellow ceramist Tanja.

Unique winners Delft Ceramica Award 2008

The jury - consisting of Sjannie Dorff-Bouwman, ceramist, Albert van der Pluym, art connaisseur and Herman Weijers, chairman of the Foundation Vermeercentrum Delft - used three criteria for the Delft Ceramica Award 2008, which was awarded for the first time this year: modelled by hand on a potter's wheel, creativity and originality.

The jury chose as winners the artists/spouses Tanja and Gideon Neckar from Höhr-Grenzhausen (Germany). Especially the creativity and originality of their works scored high. Tanja and Gideon Necker often make their pieces together, each doing part of the work, but of course they each also create art of an exceptionally high standard on their own.

Chairman of the jury Herman Weijers presented the Delft Ceramica Award 2008 to the couple on Sunday July 20th 2008.

And so the first Delft Ceramica Award travels to Germany.

Ook de weergoden hielden zich aan het thema van Delft Ceramica...

want het water kwam met bakken uit de hemel. Maar de deelnemende ceramisten en het publiek lieten zich door de fikse buien niet ontmoedigen.

Also the weather gods kept to the theme of Delft Ceramica...

because it was raining most of the day. But the participating ceramists and also the public were not encouraged.
